Patuxent Research Refuge – North Tract, 2022-05-28
On today’s visit we went to the eastern side of the refuge. The Little Patuxent was very high. Everything was green due to the rain that we had this week. A mockingbird posed very patiently in a tree beside Merganser Pond.

We went to both ends of the refuge today. Lake Allen was closed. And we found out why when we were near the Little Patuxent River bridge. Apparently the shooting range was open because that is what we heard. They shooting was loud and just ominous sounding. I had to admin that I felt a…

There is a big tree at the refuge. According to the Maryland Big Trees website it is record number BT-2695. This American Sycamore tree was 112 feet in 2014. The top of the tree has broken off and is huge on its own. This tree is as big as it looks. Visit Gallery My Favorite…
