Patuxent Research Refuge – South Tract, Laurel, MD, 2022-12-29
We took a very short walk at the Patuxent Research Refuge – South Tract. The trails were closed for hunting. The majority of the trees were bare and perfect for photos. Lake Reddington was frozen which made a nice backdrop for the lonely limb sitting on the ice. Patuxent Research Refuge – South Tract, https://www.fws.gov/refuge/patuxent-research,…

Patuxent Research Refuge – North Tract, Laurel, MD, 2022-12-27
I have to admit that the Turkey Vulture is sort of cute. We have seen them over the couple of years that we have been visiting the refuge and they always seem to be in pairs. And when they are soaring, their wings look pretty awesome. Location: Patuxent Research Refuge – North Tract, 230 Bald…

Patuxent Research Refuge – North Tract, 2022-12-20
During this visit we explored the “other” side of the refuge. It is about 5 miles southeast of the visitor’s center (map below). On the way to the Cattail Pond Parking lot, there is a stretch of power lines. All of the trails were closed so we had to walk along the street and this…

Patuxent Research Refuge – North Tract, Laurel, MD, 2022-12-14
We ran into an opossum at the refuge. I thought it was cute, but my friend does not agree with me due to the fact that apparently they are a nuisance around near her house. I am not saying that I want it for a pet. 🙂

I have decided to change my social media photo on my birthday each year going forward. So here is the first one. But there is a slight flaw. The day that I took this, in the fall, the temperature outside was like a summer day. It was 68 degrees F outside but in the house…

McCullough Field, Laurel, MD, 2022-11-05
The sky was spectacular in Laurel, MD on this day. Walking around McCullough field, on what felt like a summer day, was able to take a few pictures of the sky. I also took some objects in the surrounding area of a beautiful crepe myrtle with bright orange/yellow leaves. Visit the gallery: 2022-11-05 – McCullough…

Scott’s Cove, Laurel, MD, 2022-11-05
On this visit to Scott’s Cove, it appeared the water level was lower than it possibly usually is. I say possibly only because this was our second visit. We were able to walk out onto what felt like marshy land and we were able to see some beautiful views of the lake. 2022-11-05 – Scott’s…
