During this COVID-19 pandemic experience, I have found myself taking the time to do things I haven’t focused on like cooking dried beans, focusing on my diet, walking, and simplification.
So yesterday I cooked some chickpeas, also known as garbanzo beans. I decided to use the boil, sit, cook method. Warning, this is not a recipie.
Boil
This method avoids soaking the beans overnight. Place the beans and water into a pot. Boil the beans for 10 minutes. Since it takes time for the water to boil, I set a 30 minute timer.

Sit
Take the pan off the flame and let it sit covered for 60 minutes.

Cook
Drain all water. Add about 8 cups of water. Let the beans boil uncovered for about 2 hours. You may need to add more water. Add seasonings such as 2 teaspoons of salt, 1 tablespoon of Curry Powder, 1 tablespoon of Garlic Powder, and 1 teaspoon of Black Pepper.

Enjoy!
Enjoy your bean with brown rice and vegetables.
